A client in the nuclear industry came to us in need of stainless steel sheets that would be used in the construction of vacuum chambers. This highly specialized industry requires the highest standards. On this project we needed to fabricate a custom designed sheet/plate polishing machine to handle the dimensions of the large sheets.

Measuring 120″ long, 72″ wide, 0.120″ thick with a weight of 300 lbs., the 304 stainless steel sheets were required to be polished to less than a 30 RA brushed finish. Quality control testing was performed to ensure the finish met the RA 30 max specifications and was performed by using a profilometer. We were able to produce 10 sheets per week per the customer’s needs.

Williams Metalfinishing works with a wide range of industries and has the capabilities to meet all of your metal supply needs. No job is too big or too small. This of stainless steel sheet polishing project is outlined in the table below. If you would like additional information, please feel free to contact us directly.
